Music Monday: The Wife EP

The Wife EP, obviosuly for my wife. Of all the people that are close to me, you and I rarely dig the same sound, but for the songs that we do share, they mean a lot. Below are a collection of songs that are/were relevant to specific times in our lives.

Beautiful: There wasn’t anywhere that we wouldn’t go to see Flickerstick. Houston, Dallas and of course Austin, we were there. And along the way we added to their following and took several friends to their shows. Shit, remember that one show on 6th street when I bought Rex a beer, he chugged it then proceeded to slide his empty bottle along the strings of his guitar as he jammed. Good times.

P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing): This wasn’t our wedding song but this was the song that started the party after we danced to our song. This song jams my white socks off and it set the tone for the rest of the party that night. A night I will never forget.

Knocked Up: There are a few songs I thought of when deciding on a track to represent the time in our life when we knew we were going to have our first child, but this song always seemed to stand out. I don’t care what nobody says / No, I’m gonna be her lover / Always mad and usually drunk / But I lover her like no other.

Mixtape: When I first heard this song I thought of you... Weird though, cause I don't think I have ever made a mixtape for you. Does anyone really make mixtapes anymore though? Probably not, but I've got a catalog of songs mixed in my dome with you in mind. Enjoy.

Flickerstick - Beautiful

Michael Jackson - P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

Kings of Leon - Knocked Up

Tift Merritt - Mixtape

You're right, we don't usually listen to the same stuff. But, these are some good choices!
