iMac

Well we at the Family World Headquaters, Mac... intosh.

So glad you're here, if only you had more GB's for my obsession.

Ahh yes, the best computer I've ever had. It's amazing how it just sits there looking much smarter than me.

You weren't at the top of any lists, but you're proving to be pretty F'n cool.

And you "The Darkness" setting yourself apart from the porcelain that we've become used to... I was over you, but now I can't wait.

In memory of my 1st iPod (Over 3000 songs lost), a 3rd Gen hand-me-down (You came with thousands of songs I had never even heard of, AWESOME), a hot pink Nano (Sorry for not taking you out of my pocket, you deserved better than death by washer and dryer) your memories live on.

Music Monday: Sleigh Bells - Run The Heart

It’s about 7:30, 8 on any given weekday; dinner has been eaten, toys have been played with and it’s bath time. Lil Money and I head to his bathroom get the bath going, head over to the computer cause you gotta have bath jams. We usually get stuck here for a while, as we often break into dance… It used to only be me dancing but now Young Money is coming into his own and recognizes the sound of music and it takes over, good times.

So we dance.
For the most part the music is just the soundtrack in the background of bath-time, every now and then I sing…

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you, now I get what I want
Since you been gone

Kidding, I don’t have that track so no I’m not pumping my fist to the Clarkson anthem. [Note to self: Rip download song immediately.] Haha.

Anyhow, there’s usually too much splashing going on to even hear the music, but the other day while I was reading to him he was sitting there quietly when something caught his attention. It was awesome, from the look on his face I could tell that he was no longer into what animals Bert & Ernie liked most at the zoo. His face was a concentrated stare, as if trying to hear a whisper in a crowded room, it wasn’t until he smiled and started to dance that I realized he was jammin’. Who am I to stop him, I’ve gotten lost in music enough times to understand, so I set the book aside and let him enjoy the face melting sounds of Sleigh Bells.

Another song (jingle) that always catches his attention is the one from the iPad commercial, kid will stop everything to locate the TV when hears this. :)

I've Been Called a Lot of Things...

... But I've never been called that. Yeah, so, I've been refered to as Daniel, Darrel, Darnel, Dale, Fernando, Armando, Orlando, Domingo, Dario, Daygo, Dayago, Drago, D'ahgo and I'm sure a few others but that's just the short list that came to mind.

But... I have never, not once been called The Eagle, I like it though. Haha. On this blog I don't name names too often so I won't put my name on blast but believe me when I say that my name can and obviously has been mistaken for all those listed above if you're not listening correctly or just don't take enough care in listening to what it actually is. I don't mind it much anymore, definitely not as much as I used to when I was younger.

I remember in elementary school I wanted so badly for my name to be Michael, and why not a lot of people were named Michael. Two of my best friends at the time were named Michael, why couldn't I be named Michael. Instead I was given some unique name that I was too young to appreciate.

Now that I'm older I love my name and dispise the fact that it's become popularized so much that it's commercial. So much so, that there's probably a kid out there wishing his name was the same cause it's his best friends name and it's so awesome. I haven't looked but my name is probably now on sale along with all other common names in a McCook, NE souvenier shop. Lame. I certainly hope not.

With that said, I embrace my new alias. I won't ever refer to myself as The Eagle, but you're more than welcome to. Haha, kidding. Oh and you know Iike pictures with my posts and I wanted to find a cool image to go along with this post but didn't want to use the traditional image of a bald eagle or anything when I came across this... I like, and could totally see it as a tattoo, it's beautiful. [Save that to the ol brain vault]

Chris-P Kit N°1 & 2

I have this friend Chris-P of the couple "Chandy" (Chris & Brandy) and recently he's been getting into my gear telling me how he digs my style. Cool. While I do dress to impress -I take that as a great compliment- I really do it for myself, when I look good I feel good and I try to feel good every day.

I figured since he’s feelin' my style I’d hook him up with a kit of his own… Granted I am not buying him any of this gear (I wish), I’m just putting a look together for him, in this case two looks, Day & Night.

Chris-P is a bigger guy than myself, which is no surprise most everyone I know is bigger than me. Anyhow, due to his figure & current style I think he’d be able to rock more of a street-style look than myself. When I think of street-style the first thing to come to mind is footwear. I think street-style offers itself to a more urban and playful side of footwear. Something like Red Wings, while many men wear Red Wings to the daily grind I think the styling is also suitable for urban wear.

Check it out:

N°1 - Day

N°2 - Night

While both looks are relatively the same, each one offers a different opportunity in occasion. The first look is a little more comfortable and playful, ready for the day ahead, with it's color combination and skull tie. The second look is much more cleaner, ready for a night out, but it retains that edge with the eye-catching skull and crossbones tie. I don't know if I could pull these shoes off but I'd definitely get down on both N°1 & N°2.

Shamless

I can already tell that this is going to be one of my favorite shows. Good stuff, check it out on ShoTime if/when you get a chance, you will not regret it.

Fifty

That’s how many T-Shirts I pulled out of my closet and have about half that in T’s still hung up. With the passing of another year I decided that I need to get organized, so on December 30th after tucking Lil Money off to bed I got after it. First I straightened up my book shelf and sorted my pocket squares into a nice box. That was easy. Next I hit the closet like a crash test dummy at the collision testing facility… I hit it hard, it was messy but the results were necessary and positive.

Here’s the breakdown of the shakedown.

-6 Blue (Variations)
-1 Tie Die (Yeah, and what? I’m from Austin, I don’t care who you are, it’s pretty much mandatory.)
-3 Gray (Variations)
-3 Orange (Variations)
-4 White
-1 Purple
-4 Yellow (Variations)
-4 Red
-1 Maroon
-8 Black
-7 Green (Variations)
-3 Tan
-5 Brown (Variations)

Looks like I need to have an Ebay sale or something; I knew my closet was packed but I never realized it was this out of hand. And like I mentioned before I still have quite a bit still hanging around. Although, those are on ”tryouts” right now during the “off-season”… If I don’t wear them around the house chances are I won’t wear them around town. We’ll see how it goes, I’m not a hoarder but I don’t really want to get rid of these T’s, I’d like to give some to Lil Money at some point.

But, when I think about it, if I sell all 50 for only $2.00 that’s easily $100.00… I think I’ll start the bidding at $5.00 though. Again, we’ll see.

Check out the madness that was the method.

I Wanna Be Shot...

... by The Sartorialist. I've been following his blog for a while now and love the shots that he takes. People at work or just out and about. His blog is like people watching but instead of a crowded place it's right there in front of you on your 21 inch screen. What I like most about the blog is the sense of style that you're awarded from the various shots of different people.

Hopefully some random day he'll catch me and shoot me. That would be top notch.

Two Winners.

And neither of them are myself or The Wife. [Sigh] As many of you may or may not know, last night was the Mega Millions drawing and with the jackpot being even larger than expected, $380 MILLION, it caught my imagination and fueled my fantasy. And as gambling goes sometimes you win and sometime you… Well you know, and today I sit here not a winner. It just wasn’t in the cards for me, well in this case balls. It wasn’t in the balls for me. [Hmm?] Uhh yeah, you know what I mean.

I guess this will have to wait on me a little longer, along with a few other things I had in mind. I wasn’t gonna go all crazy and buy diamond encrusted toilets or anything but I would like a few (maybe more than a few) nice things. Plus I had plans for investing in my family’s future and projects. Oh well, I guess I’ll go about it the good ol American way and hustle my way to the top. Or die trying.

I’m amazed as to how quickly I jumped aboard this fantasy and I’m sure the same goes for thousands of folks out there everyday. I mean, this was our first time ever playing, we didn’t even know how to play. Yeah I had to look online to see how to pick numbers. But at the end of the day, my health is good, my body works and my mind is right. So, until I catch my “break” I’ll still wake up before the sun and head to the daily grind like the rest of you suckas, complain about rush hour, rest when I can, pinch when I have to, laugh & play as often as possible and enjoy this paradise called life.

Notre Dame -Better Than- Texas

At least that's the case this season and from the looks of things in Austin, it will be a while before Texas reaches the top tier again. I hope the same doesn't go for Notre Dame, I look forward to Brian Kelly and his squad doing big things in the future. As for Texas, they've got some foundation work to do.

By The Numbers:
Notre Dame's (8-5) Schedule featured:
-9 Teams that made it to a bowl game / 4 Losses - 3 Wins & 2 TBD.
-2 Teams with no bowls / Purdue (4-8), Western Michigan (7-6)
-1 Team with NCAA Sanctions, USC (8-5)

Texas' (5-7) Schedule featured:
-7 Teams that made it to a bowl game / 3 Wins - 3 Losses & 1 TBD
-5 Teams with no bowls / Rice (4-8), Wyoming (3-9), UCLA (4-8), Iowa State (5-7), Florida Atlantic (4-8)

The truth is in the numbers, as is the norm Notre Dame had a stronger schedule and after a slow but competitive start they picked up steam in October, fizzled out, then suffered a Quarterback loss when Dayne Crist's season ended with knee injury. Freshman, Tommy Rees stepped in and Notre Dame went  undefeated in November earning them a bowl invitation.

Style… Style is the answer to everything. A fresh way to approach a dull or dangerous thing. To do a dull thing with style is preferable to doing a dangerous thing without style. To do a dangerous thing with style is what I call art. Bullfighting can be an art. Boxing can be an art. Loving can be an art. Opening a can of sardines can be an art. Not many have style. Not many can keep style. I have seen dogs with more style than men. Although not many dogs have style. Cats have it with abundance. When Hemingway put his brains to the wall with a shotgun, that was style. Or sometimes people give you style. Joan of Arc had style. John the Baptist. Christ. Socrates. Caesar. GarcĂa Lorca. I have met men in jail with style. I have met more men in jail with style than men out of jail. Style is a difference, a way of doing, a way of being done. Six herons standing quietly in a pool of water, or you, walking out of the bathroom without seeing me.
